The growing interest in authentic, challenging, and nature-based travel experiences has encouraged the rapid development of adventure tourism. One of the tourism activities with considerable development potential is cave exploration (caving), which offers distinctive geological landscapes, educational value, and unique exploration experiences. Despite its potential, the development of cave-based adventure tourism attractions still encounters several challenges, including visitor safety, service quality, supporting facilities, and destination management. This study aims to examine the development of cave-based adventure tourism attractions by describing their current condition, identifying factors that hinder their development, and exploring possible efforts to enhance visitor experience and safety. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed using observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. The analysis was conducted using the 4A tourism destination framework, consisting of Attraction, Accessibility, Amenities, and Ancillary. The findings are expected to provide a comprehensive understanding of the current condition and development challenges of cave-based adventure tourism while offering practical recommendations for destination managers. In addition, this study is expected to contribute to the development of sustainable adventure tourism management and enrich tourism-related academic studies.
