This study examines sustainable tourism development based on natural potential at Waka Beach, Fatkauyon Village, East Sulabesi District, Sula Islands Regency, North Maluku. The study aims to address questions concerning the natural potential that constitutes the main attractions of Waka Beach and how this potential is developed to support sustainable tourism. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design involving 19 informants representing the Tourism Office, village government, tourism managers, visitors, youth, and local communities. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation using triangulation techniques and were subsequently analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis and presented narratively. The findings indicate that Waka Beach possesses natural potential comprising white sandy beaches, clear waters, underwater beauty, waterfalls, mangroves, coral reefs, diverse fauna, and Portuguese heritage sites. Destination development is supported by the involvement of government, communities, and youth but continues to face limitations in basic facilities, internet connectivity, and road access. Tourism activities have also encouraged the growth of microenterprises, with tourism managers earning approximately IDR 50,000 – IDR 100,000 every day, fluctuating according to tourist visits. These findings emphasize that the sustainability of Waka Beach requires the integration of natural resource conservation, infrastructure improvement, collaborative governance, community participation, and strengthened local economic benefits.
