The use of synthetic pesticides in pest control strategies is still popular and widely practiced by farmers today. Unfortunately, excessive use of synthetic pesticides brings a lot of negative impact for the environment and human health. Therefore, another more environmentally friendly approaches are needed, such as the use of biological control agent such as entomopathogenic bacteria. This study aims to explore the potential of bacteria from the soil of durian Loji (Durio sp.) plantation in Karawang Regency as a candidate for biological control agent. Soil sampling was carried out in the root areas of durian plants, and bacteria were isolated and tested for mortality using the food dipping method on Tenebrio molitor larvae. This study used a single-factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 8 treatments and 3 replications. This study showed that some local bacterial isolates such as ID6, ID4, and ID2 has a mortality effect to the T. molitor larvae, and the result was significantly different compare to other isolates. Isolate ID6 produced the highest average mortality of Tenebrio molitor at 90% on the last day of observation with the lowest LT50 value of 4.48 days. This research indicates that isolates ID6, ID4, and ID2 are potential as the candidates for biological control agents which are environmentally friendly to support sustainable agriculture practices
