Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease requiring long-term therapy; therefore, medication adherence plays a crucial role in achieving optimal blood glucose control. Poor adherence often results in uncontrolled glucose levels and increased risk of complications. Methods: This study employed a cross-sectional design involving 60 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus selected through simple random sampling at Jailolo General Hospital. Medication adherence was assessed using the Medication Adherence Rating Scale (MARS-10), and blood glucose data were obtained from laboratory medical records. The relationship between variables was analyzed using the Chi-Square test. Results: The analysis showed a significant relationship between medication adherence and blood glucose levels, with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Patients with higher adherence demonstrated better-controlled glucose levels, while low adherence was associated with elevated glucose levels. Conclusion: There is a significant association between medication adherence and blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Improving adherence through continuous education and guidance is essential to support therapeutic success.
