<![CDATA[Mathematics anxiety is a feeling of strees, worry, anxiety, restlessness, dislike, or fear that students experience toward anything related to mathematics, which causes some students to dislike mathematics. The purpose of this study was to describe the mathematics anxiety of seventh grade students at SMPN 10 Tarakan. The research method was qualitative research with a descriptive type of study. The subjects were three seventh-grade students using purposive sampling with categories of high, moderate, and low levels of math anxiety. The data collection techniques used were questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis consisted of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The validity of the data was ensured through triangulation of sources, increased persistence, and member checking. The results showed that students with high levels of mathematics anxiety only met ten indicators of mathematics anxiety. In comparison, students with moderate levels of mathematics anxiety only met five indicators of mathematics anxiety, and students with low levels of mathematics anxiety did not meet any indicators of mathematics anxiety. The researcher's findings regarding the causes of mathematics anxiety in class 7 were that there are too many formulas to understand, students are afraid of mathematics teachers, and conventional teaching methods were used.]]>
