Since 1972, malathion has been used for fogging, but the mosquito Aedes aegypti has shown resistance to this insecticide. Therefore, an insecticide to which Aedes aegypti is susceptible is needed. One insecticide that remains effective is cypermethrin. This study aims to analyze the susceptibility of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes to cypermethrin in the dengue-endemic area of Surabaya using the CDC bottle method. This study is a quasi-experimental design with a post-test-only with control group design. This study used a purposive sampling technique. The data collection process involved observing the number of mosquito deaths. The variables studied were a 1% Cypermethrin concentration and the mortality of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. The subject of this study was the Aedes aegypti mosquito. This study showed that all mosquitoes exposed to Cypermethrin died within 60 minutes, whereas the control group did not die. The study concluded that all Aedes aegypti mosquitoes in the treatment group were found dead by the 60th minute, whereas no mosquito deaths were observed in the control group. The mortality rate of mosquitoes exposed to cypermethrin was 100%, classified as “susceptible” according to WHO standards. It is recommended that cypermethrin be considered as an alternative insecticide to malathion.
