This study aimed to determine the relationship between Social Anxiety and difficulties in interpersonal communication skills among eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Narmada in the 2025/2026 academic year. Effective interpersonal communication is an important aspect of students’ social and academic development because it enables them to express ideas, build relationships, and participate actively in the school environment. However, social anxiety may become a barrier to communication, particularly when students feel afraid of being judged, lack confidence, or feel uncomfortable when interacting with others. The background of this study was based on the presence of students who experience anxiety when interacting with others, lack confidence in expressing their opinions, and encounter difficulties in developing effective interpersonal communication in the school environment. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The population consisted of 144 eleventh-grade students, while the sample comprised 57 students selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using Social Anxiety and interpersonal communication skills difficulty questionnaires, supported by observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test with the assistance of SPSS. The results showed that the correlation coefficient (rxy) was 0.693, which was greater than the rtable value of 0.261 at a 5% significance level, with a significance value of 0.000. Therefore, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, indicating a significant relationship between Social Anxiety and difficulties in interpersonal communication skills among eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Narmada in the 2025/2026 academic year. The findings of this study indicate a statistically significant relationship between the two variables.
