This study aims to analyze the development of the personality structure of the character Sore in the film Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan through the integration of Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic perspective and Mochtar Lubis’s theory of Indonesian human characteristics. The study focuses on the interaction between the id, ego, and superego in relation to sociocultural traits in influencing the character’s behavior and choices. The research employs a qualitative method using content analysis of the character’s dialogue and actions. Data collection was conducted through observation and note-taking, while data analysis encompassed the stages of reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research findings indicate that Sore’s personality structure undergoes significant changes correlated with the typology of the Indonesian people. A unique finding indicates the absence of any signs of superstition, proving that Mochtar Lubis’s theory is not entirely absolute and is dynamic, evolving in line with the development of individual rationality. The study concludes that the characteristics of the Indonesian people are highly dependent on their level of psychological maturity in negotiating with reality.
