Abstract

Coffee is one of Indonesia's leading export commodities and contributes significantly to the country's foreign exchange earnings. The value of coffee exports is influenced by several factors, including the exchange rate, coffee production, and international coffee prices. However, previous studies on the effects of these variables have produced inconsistent findings, while studies that incorporate an Islamic economics perspective in analyzing the determinants of coffee export value remain limited. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effect of the rupiah exchange rate, coffee production, and international coffee prices on the value of Indonesia's coffee exports from the perspective of Islamic economics. This study employs a quantitative approach using secondary time-series data covering the period 2005–2024, obtained from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), Bank Indonesia (BI), and the International Coffee Organization (ICO). The data were analyzed using the Multiple Linear Regression method with the assistance of EViews 13 software. Hypothesis testing was conducted through the partial test (t-test), simultaneous test (F-test), and the coefficient of determination (Adjusted R-squared). The results indicate that, partially, the rupiah exchange rate and international coffee prices have a positive and significant effect on the value of Indonesia's coffee exports, while coffee production has no significant effect. Simultaneously, the rupiah exchange rate, coffee production, and international coffee prices significantly affect the value of Indonesia's coffee exports, with an Adjusted R-squared value of 0.530057, indicating that the model explains 53.0% of the variation in Indonesia's coffee export value. From the perspective of Islamic economics, export activities should be conducted based on the principles of justice, honesty, public benefit (maslahah), and market mechanisms that comply with Sharia principles in order to achieve shared prosperity.
