Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in Islamic Religious Education (IRE), as indicated by the large number of students who had not achieved the Minimum Mastery Criterion (MMC). The purpose of this study was to improve students' learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education by creating a comfortable learning environment supported by audio-visual media for seventh-grade students at MTs Al-Fatah Jadimulyo. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 30 seventh-grade students of MTs Al-Fatah Jadimulyo. Data were collected through tests, observations, and documentation. Quantitative descriptive analysis was used to calculate the average scores and the percentage of students' learning mastery, while qualitative descriptive analysis was employed to describe the activities of both the teacher and students during the learning process. The actions implemented in this study involved creating a comfortable learning environment through the use of introductory questions, audio-visual media, an educational game called Quick Response Game, rewards, and review activities before the daily assessment. The results showed a continuous improvement in students' learning outcomes across each cycle. In the pre-cycle stage, 12 students (40.00%) achieved the minimum mastery criterion. After the implementation of Cycle I, the number of students who achieved mastery increased to 14 students (46.67%), and further increased to 22 students (73.33%) in Cycle II. Meanwhile, the number of students who had not achieved mastery decreased from 18 students (60.00%) in the pre-cycle to 16 students (53.33%) in Cycle I and 8 students (26.67%) in Cycle II. The findings indicate that creating a comfortable learning environment supported by audio-visual media, educational games, and a reward system effectively improved students' participation, learning motivation, and learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education for seventh-grade students at MTs Al-Fatah Jadimulyo.
