The Role of the Teacher in Strengthening Democratic Character Education for Students Through Civic Education Learning at SMA Negeri 1 Bontang under the guidance of Dr. Jamil, S.Pd., M.AP as supervisor I and Mrs. Dra. Hj.Marwiah, M.Pd as supervisor II The State of Indonesia is an archipelagic country which has the highest legal basis in the form of the 1945 Constitution which contains democratic values. Indonesia is a constitutional country that is democratic. Therefore it is important to strengthen democratic character education through the educational pathway, namely schools, in which the role of the teacher becomes very important. Strengthening democratic character education is increasingly important, especially as a result of post-pandemic learning which has caused a decline in student character. Seeing these problems, this study aims to determine the condition of students' democratic character education and to determine the role of teachers in strengthening democratic character education in students through Civic Education learning at SMA Negeri 1 Bontang. This research uses a qualitative approach by collecting primary data from field observations and interview teachers and students and also collect secondary data from reference books, articles, and scientific journals. The data analysis technique used was started by collecting data then doing data reduction, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that the condition of the democratic character of students at SMA Negeri 1 Bontang is very good, seen from several aspects such as participation in elections, expressing opinions in learning and mutual respect for the opinions of friends. In addition, the teacher's role in strengthening democratic character education through Civics learning has been going well, this can be seen from several aspects such as the role of the teacher as an example, the teacher as a motivator and the teacher as a facilitator.]]>
