This study maps global research trends, intellectual structures, and research gaps related to ethnoscience and scaffolding approaches in science education through a bibliometric analysis. Data were retrieved from the Scopus database, yielding 244 relevant documents published between 2010 and 2026. The data were analyzed using VOSviewer and Bibliometrix. The results indicate a significant increase in publications, peaking in 2025. Indonesia emerged as the leading contributor, followed by the United States and Malaysia. Social Sciences was the dominant subject area, reflecting the field’s strong relevance to educational research. Keyword co-occurrence analysis identified key themes such as science education, students, higher-order thinking, teaching, and ethnoscience. Overlay visualization highlighted contemporary trends focusing on HOTS, STEM, STEAM, and critical thinking. However, the linkage between ethnoscience and scaffolding remains limited. This finding reveals a substantial research gap and underscores the need for integrative learning models that combine local cultural knowledge with instructional support. Consequently, future studies may explore integrative models that combine ethnoscience and scaffolding approaches to support higher-order thinking skills.
