The transformation of the Salaf pesantren education system from Musyawirin to Ma’had Aly at the Al Falah Ploso Kediri Pesantren represents a dialectic between the preservation of Salafiyah traditions and the adaptation to educational modernization. This qualitative case study analyzes the effectiveness of the system’s transformation through an organizational change theory approach, with data collected via in-depth interviews with 15 informants, participatory observation of 30 syawir sessions, and analysis of policy documents. The results reveal that the tiered educational system based on classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning) has successfully produced scholarly students through the integration of religious and formal curricula, the structural transformation of Musyawirin into Ma’had Aly, and formal recognition as a Muadalah Educational Unit. This transformation improved graduate quality by 35% while maintaining the Salafi tradition, despite facing resistance from 40% of senior students due to conflicts arising from dual roles.
