The background of this study is the low level of scientific literacy among fifth-grade elementary school students at SD Negeri 14 Belanti Barat in IPAS learning. This study aims to describe students’ scientific literacy level in IPAS learning. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the fifth-grade teacher and students. The results indicate that students’ low scientific literacy is not only related to their ability to understand scientific concepts but is also influenced by low learning motivation, instructional strategies that have not fully provided direct learning experiences, limited parental support and guidance at home, and a school environment that has not fully encouraged active student participation. Therefore, improving students’ scientific literacy requires more than enhancing academic abilities and should involve various supporting factors. Teachers need to implement contextual, active, and experience-based learning through observation, discussion, and problem-solving activities to support students’ scientific literacy development.
