Interest in learning is important in mathematics education because it is related to students’ attention and engagement during the learning process. However, in mathematics classes in the second grade at SDN 34 Sungai Ambawang, there are still students who lack enthusiasm and tend to be passive. This study aims to describe students’ interest in learning mathematics based on four indicators: enjoyment, attention, interest, and engagement. The study employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. The research subjects consisted of five second-grade students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation and methodological triangulation. The results showed that students’ interest in learning was evident through their enjoyment, attention, curiosity, and engagement in mathematics learning. Students’ interest was more pronounced when the teacher used concrete materials, varied activities, and learning methods that directly involved the students. Thus, engaging learning experiences tailored to students’ needs can foster an interest in learning mathematics among second-grade students.
