This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the storytelling method in Muhammadiyah Studies (Kemuhammadiyahan) learning at the elementary school level through a literature review approach. The study is motivated by the relatively low ability of students to understand and retain Kemuhammadiyahan materials, particularly those related to the history of Muhammadiyah, exemplary Muhammadiyah figures, and the core values of the organization. Research data were obtained from various relevant academic sources, including national and international journals, conference proceedings, and previous studies concerning storytelling, learning outcomes, and character development. The collected literature was analyzed using a descriptive qualitative approach through the stages of identification, selection, evaluation, and synthesis. The findings indicate that the storytelling method can enhance students’ learning motivation, active participation, comprehension, and retention of learning materials. Presenting content through engaging narratives also helps students internalize Muhammadiyah values, such as honesty, responsibility, social awareness, devotion in worship, and a progressive mindset. In addition to its cognitive benefits, storytelling has proven effective in fostering students’ affective development and character formation through emotional engagement during the learning process. Furthermore, the review of previous studies reveals that storytelling contributes positively to the development of language skills, empathy, learning interest, as well as moral and religious values among students. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that storytelling is an effective and relevant instructional strategy for Kemuhammadiyahan learning in elementary schools. It supports the integrated development of students’ cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains while promoting the formation of Islamic character in accordance with Muhammadiyah values.
