Arabic grammar instruction in Islamic boarding schools is closely connected with the skills of reading, translating, understanding, and memorizing Arabic texts, with Alfiyyah Ibn Malik being one of the important texts used for this purpose. This study aims to describe the teaching of Arabic grammar through Alfiyyah Ibn Malik using grammar, translation, and memorization methods at the Tariq al-Huda Islamic Boarding School in Tasikmalaya. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews, and a questionnaire distributed to 25 students in the Alfiyyah class, and were analyzed qualitatively and descriptively. The findings show that instruction is conducted in the morning through recitation of the verses, translation, explanation of grammatical rules, note-taking, discussion, and memorization. The translation method helps students understand grammatical case endings and the syntactic functions of words, while memorization is conducted gradually, verse by verse, using specific rhythms and melodies. Assessment is carried out through memorization and comprehension, reading and translating unvowelled sentences, and identifying grammatical rules. The questionnaire results indicate that 100% of students consider studying Alfiyyah Ibn Malik important and worthwhile, 92% find the learning process enjoyable, and 84% believe that the teacher’s explanations help them understand the material. The study concludes that grammar, translation, and memorization are implemented as an integrated instructional process that supports students’ understanding of Arabic texts and grammatical structures.
