The rapid development of information technology, especially social media, has significantly changed people's communication patterns. However, on the other hand, the uncontrolled use of social media also triggers various social problems such as discrimination, hate speech, the spread of false information (hoaxes), and the use of offensive language related to SARA (ethnic, religious, racial, and inter-group) issues. This problem causes social unrest, mental health disorders, and a decrease in public trust in the digital space. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the application of cyber counseling in minimizing SARA-content and behaviors among the people of Makassar City. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews with nine informants who actively use social media such as WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Twitter. The instrument used is a semi-structured interview guideline, which is disseminated online using Google Forms. Data were analyzed using a thematic method with a qualitative content analysis approach. The results of the study show that negative behavior on social media related to SARA has a significant impact on social harmony and the psychological condition of the community. The conclusion of this study confirms that cyber counseling can be an effective alternative strategy in shaping ethical and inclusive digital behavior.
