Determining the roots of nonlinear functions is one of the mathematical problems commonly solved using numerical methods because not all functions can be solved analytically. This study aims to develop a PHP-based web application for determining the roots of nonlinear functions using the Secant Method and Halley Method, as well as to compare the performance of both methods based on error values and the number of iterations. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the Waterfall model, which consists of the stages of requirement analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. The results showed that the developed web application was able to accurately determine the roots of nonlinear functions for polynomial, trigonometric, and transcendental functions. Based on the testing results, the Halley Method produced smaller error values and required fewer iterations than the Secant Method for most of the tested functions, although the Secant Method performed faster on several transcendental functions. Therefore, the developed web application can be used as a learning medium and a supporting tool for comparing the performance of the Secant Method and Halley Method in determining the roots of nonlinear functions.
