This research is motivated by the low practical skills of obligatory prayers of seventh grade students at SMPN 5 Cikarang Utara due to the use of conventional learning methods and limited time. The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of the role play method in improving practical skills of obligatory prayers. The research approach uses a quasi-quantitative experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research sample consisted of 94 students selected through purposive sampling, divided into experimental and control groups, each consisting of 47 students. Data collection was carried out through practical test instruments, written tests, observations, interviews, and documentation. The test results showed that the experimental class experienced an average of 56.70 to 76.70 with an N-Gain Score of 42% or a medium category. In contrast, the control class only experienced an increase from 53.83 to 65.64 with an N-Gain Score of 20% or a low category. The results of the Paired Samples T-Test hypothesis test obtained a significance value <0.001. In conclusion, the role-playing method has proven effective and significantly impacted improving skills in performing obligatory prayers. Consequently, this method can be an innovative solution for shifting learning styles to focus on students and facilitate collaborative social interactions.
