This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of Padlet-based Collaborative Digital Learning in improving the descriptive writing skills of students in the experimental and control groups at SMPN 2 Ranah Pesisir, Indonesia. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 64 seventh-grade students, who were divided into an experimental group and a control group. Data were collected through pretest and posttest descriptive writing tests, observations, and documentation. The data were analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests, followed by an independent samples t-test. The pretest results indicated that the two groups had comparable initial writing abilities. The posttest results showed that the experimental group obtained a higher mean score (84.37) than the control group (73.12), with a statistically significant difference (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that the use of Padlet-based Collaborative Digital Learning produced greater improvement in students’ descriptive writing skills than conventional learning. Therefore, within the limitations of the quasi-experimental design, Padlet-based Collaborative Digital Learning can be considered an effective digital learning medium for improving students’ descriptive writing skills in Indonesian language learning, particularly in descriptive text writing
