Background: Gout arthritis is a joint inflammatory disease caused by deposition of monosodium urate crystals, which frequently causes intense pain and limits daily activity, particularly among older adults. One non-pharmacological therapy that can relieve this pain is a combination of red ginger compress and olive oil. This study aimed to determine the effect of combined red ginger compress and olive oil on gout arthritis pain reduction among older adults in the working area of Arut Selatan Public Health Center. A quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest approach was used. Thirty respondents were selected through purposive sampling and divided into an intervention group of fifteen respondents, given a combination of red ginger compress and olive oil for fifteen minutes daily over seven consecutive days, and a control group of fifteen respondents receiving no intervention. Pain intensity was measured before and after the study using the Numeric Rating Scale and analyzed with the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann-Whitney test. At pretest, both groups mostly experienced moderate pain. After the intervention, all intervention-group respondents decreased to mild pain, while most control-group respondents remained moderate. The Wilcoxon test showed a significant change within each group (p = 0.001), and the Mann-Whitney test showed a significant difference between groups after the intervention (p = 0.000). These findings indicate that the combination of red ginger compress and olive oil is more effective in reducing gout arthritis pain among older adults than standard care alone and may be considered a safe complementary therapy
