Fresh whole-plant maize (tebon) is a potential forage source for ruminants, yet field data on its productivity by seed type and its regional potential in Purbalingga Regency remain limited. This study aimed to describe maize forage productivity by seed type and location and to project potential production and ruminant carrying capacity based on maize land area. We surveyed 16 farmers selected through purposive random sampling in Kejobong and Bukateja Subdistricts. We measured fresh forage weight and converted it to productivity (ton/ha; 1 ubin = 14 m2), then analyzed it descriptively and projected it against the regency maize harvested area. Mean forage productivity was 50.6 ton/ha, with a coefficient of variation of 13.6%, indicating relatively uniform results among respondents. Naga seed showed the highest aggregate productivity (53.5 ton/ha). Projected onto the 6,858 ha maize harvested area, the regency holds a potential of about 347,015 ton fresh forage per year, equivalent to roughly 41,000 animal units. Maize forage therefore has strong potential to support ruminant feed provision in Purbalingga.
