The waste bank development initiative in West Kedungwuni Village, started by KKN students from UIN K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid Pekalongan, seeks to enhance the efficiency of sustainable, community-driven waste management. The approach utilized is participatory, involving outreach, training, and community guidance in waste sorting and processing. The outcomes of the activities indicate that the waste bank serves as both a waste storage facility and a platform for community empowerment and local economic enhancement. Innovations created consist of crafting pencil cases from recycled plastic bottles, transforming used cooking oil into scented candles, converting organic waste into biowash, and employing a smoke-free waste incinerator. This initiative offers two advantages: it decreases environmental pollution and enhances the well-being of the community, particularly for homemakers. Nonetheless, challenges like inadequate skills, funding, and marketing persist and must be addressed via continuous mentoring, enhancing marketing networks, and institutional backing. In general, the waste bank development strategy has demonstrated to be a comprehensive method that can tackle environmental, social, and economic factors in the pursuit of sustainable waste management.
