Conventional teaching methods have not yet accommodated the needs of the majority of sixth-grade students at UPTD SDN Pendabah 2 who exhibit a tendency toward kinesthetic learning. This study aimed to explain the rationale for designing the website-based interactive instructional medium “Misi Petualang Nusantara” for IPAS to accommodate these needs by integrating Madura’s salt commodity through the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observations during Praktik Pengalaman Lapangan (PPL), interviews, and document searches. The findings identified a gap between students’ need to learn actively and classroom instructional methods that tended to be passive. These findings formed the basis for designing digital media incorporating exploratory activities through clicking, dragging, and navigation and connecting historical content to the local environmental context. “Misi Petualang Nusantara” is positioned as a conceptual solution designed to accommodate kinesthetic learning needs while integrating local culture into IPAS instruction. Because the medium has not yet been tested, conclusions cannot yet be drawn about its benefits for student engagement and learning outcomes. This study contributes a conceptual foundation for educators and researchers to design digital instructional media responsive to the diversity of learning needs and the local cultural context.
