Abstract

Legal Analysis of the General Election Commission's Function in the Process of Increasing Political Participation in the 2024 North Toraja Regional Head Election. This study aims to analyze the function of the General Elections Commission (KPU) in increasing public political participation in the 2024 North Toraja Regency Regional Head Election (Pilkada). Political participation is an important indicator in assessing the quality of democracy, so the KPU's role as an election organizer is very strategic in encouraging public involvement. The research method used is normative legal research with a legislative approach and a conceptual approach, and supported by relevant empirical data. The results show that the KPU has several main functions, namely regulatory, educational, and facilitative functions in increasing political participation. Efforts made include election socialization, voter education, and providing inclusive access for all levels of society. However, there are various obstacles such as low levels of public political education, limited access to information in certain areas, and socio-cultural factors that influence the level of participation. In conclusion, the KPU's function in increasing political participation in the 2024 North Toraja Pilkada has been implemented, but not optimally. More innovative and collaborative strategies are needed to increase public awareness and involvement in the democratic process.
