Through the use of polya stages in the Problem Based Learning approach, this study seeks to increase students' ability to answer arithmetic word problems. At SMA Negeri 2 Sungai Raya, descriptive qualitative research of this kind is being done. Students in class XI made up the study's population, and its sample consisted of 6 of them. The information gathered is the outcome of learning assessments in the form of interviews and description questions. Based on the findings of the students' responses and the processed data, a descriptive analysis of the data was performed. The study's findings support the notion that kids' capacity for word problem solving has grown. Thus, it can be inferred that students may effectively answer word problems by applying the polya phases in the Problem Based Learning paradigm.
