Abstract

Leukaemia in children is a disease that not only affects the child's physical condition but also causes anxiety among parents. The trends and topics related to health promotion concerning parental anxiety in children with leukaemia have not been extensively mapped. Mapping is crucial for identifying the evolution of research focus over time and for discovering research gaps that are still rarely explored. This study employs a bibliometric approach using data from the Scopus database. The search was conducted using Boolean operators (parent* OR maternal) AND (anxiety OR distress) AND (leukaemia OR childhood cancer) AND (health promotion OR psychoeducation OR intervention). Of the 225 articles found, 59 met the inclusion criteria (in English, open access, and from journals or proceedings), while 166 articles were excluded for not meeting the inclusion criteria (not open access, not in English, or from books). Data were analysed using VOSviewer to generate network visualisations, overlays, and density maps. Six main clusters were identified, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), digital-based interventions (video conferencing, social media), mindfulness, play therapy, social support, and family empowerment. The trend shows a shift from conventional approaches (2016–2018) towards technology-based interventions and CBT (2018–2024). The United States has the largest contribution, followed by China, Australia, and Malaysia. Research on health promotion to prevent parental anxiety in children with leukaemia shows significant development towards digital-based approaches. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and technology-based interventions are the most dominant topics. Future research should test long-term effectiveness and develop culturally adaptive interventions.
