This study was motivated by the low ability of Grade II students at SDK Manumuti to write simple sentences in the Indonesian Language subject. The primary issue was indicated by students' difficulties in constructing words and arranging simple sentences according to proper grammar and spelling rules. This study aimed to improve students' ability to write simple sentences through the application of picture story cards. The methodology employed was Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the Kemmis & McTaggart model, conducted across two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The research subjects were 28 Grade II students of SDK Manumuti (13 male and 15 female students). Data were collected through observation, achievement tests, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative methods. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in students' simple sentence writing skills. The average score increased from 68.75 in Cycle I to 77.57 in Cycle II. The classical learning completeness rate also rose substantially from 64.28% (18 students completed) in Cycle I to 93.00% (26 students completed) in Cycle II, thereby exceeding the target success indicator (≥75%). The use of picture story cards proved effective in boosting student engagement, enthusiasm, and skill in translating visual ideas into structured written sentences.
