Abstract

The increasing energy demand in the oil and gas industry sector requires every company to implement efficient energy management to maintain operational sustainability and reduce production costs. The integrated oil and gas terminal is one of the facilities that has a considerable electrical energy consumption because it supports the process of receiving, storing, and distributing fuel oil (BBM). Most of the energy consumption at the terminals comes from production equipment, specifically distribution pumps that operate continuously. However, there are still terminals that do not have a separation of energy use between production facilities and supporting facilities, making it difficult to evaluate energy efficiency. This study aims to analyze energy consumption patterns and electrical systems in oil and gas integrated terminals. This study uses  a case study method with a quantitative descriptive approach. The research data was collected through observation, energy consumption measurement, documentation of operational data and electricity use, and review of company documents. The results show that the energy consumption at the integrated terminal is dominated by production facilities (67%), with the production pump as the main Significant Energy Use (SEU). The electricity system is supplied by PLN and supported by two generator units as a backup resource. The Energy Consumption Intensity (IKE) value of production facilities of 0.0019 GJ/KL/year is in the top 25% category, while supporting facilities of 1.05 GJ/m²/year are in the bottom 25% category. The baseline analysis resulted in a regression equation of y = -19.59x + 927861 with R² = 0.7535, and identified potential energy savings of 33.90% or 117,148 kWh per year through improving the efficiency of production pumps and the implementation of rooftop solar PV. These findings show that energy audits are effective in identifying conservation opportunities and improving energy efficiency at integrated oil and gas terminals.
