This study aims to evaluate the impact of financial bootstrapping and entrepreneurial competence on the performance of online Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), while examining financial literacy as a moderating variable. Using a quantitative explanatory approach, data were gathered from online MSMEs in Sorong City and analyzed via Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results reveal that entrepreneurial competence significantly and positively enhances MSME performance, whereas the effect of financial bootstrapping is positive but statistically insignificant. Additionally, financial literacy was found not to moderate the relationship between either financial bootstrapping or entrepreneurial competence and overall business performance. Practically, these findings imply that to sustain long-term growth and success, online MSME owners should prioritize developing strong core entrepreneurial skills alongside foundational financial knowledge, rather than expecting financial literacy to act as a catalyst for informal funding strategies.
