This study was motivated by students’ lack of local history literacy skills, as evidenced by low reading interest, poor ability to analyze historical sources, and limited use of technology-based learning media in social studies instruction. The first objective of this study is to determine the extent to which the use of the Indonesia Virtual Tour website influences the improvement of students’ local history literacy skills. Second, to measure the extent of the contribution or influence of this medium on social studies learning in schools. This study employs a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group. The sample consists of students from classes VII-4 and VII-6 at SMP Negeri 2 Tanjunganom. Based on the hypothesis testing conducted, this study indicates that the use of the Indonesia Virtual Tour website as a learning medium has an effect on students’ local history literacy skills. The results of the Independent Sample T-test yielded a Sig. value of 0.000, thus accepting H1. Furthermore, the N-Gain score yielded a mean of 0.5399, which falls into the moderate category, and Cohen’s Effect Size was 2.323, indicating a very large effect. Thus, it can be concluded that this study has a significant impact on the local history literacy skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Tanjunganom.
