Smoking behaviour among adolescents remains a public health concern because it increases the risk of various diseases. Several factors are thought to influence adolescent smoking behaviour, including knowledge, attitudes, cigarette advertising, cigarette availability, parental roles, and peer roles. This study aimed to analyse the factors influencing smoking behaviour among students at Marisi Vocational High School, Medan. This quantitative study used a cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of 152 male students in Grades X and XI at Marisi Vocational High School, Medan. A total of 60 respondents were selected using the Slovin formula and proportional sampling technique. Data were collected using a validated and reliable questionnaire and analysed using univariate analysis, bivariate analysis with the Chi-square test, and multivariate analysis using multiple logistic regression. The results of multiple logistic regression showed that cigarette availability significantly influenced students' smoking behaviour (p = 0.025 < 0.05), while peer role did not significantly influence smoking behaviour (p = 0.076 > 0.05). The findings indicate that knowledge, attitude, cigarette advertising, peer role, and parental role were not significant predictors of students' smoking behaviour. Cigarette availability was the dominant factor influencing smoking behaviour among students. It is recommended that schools, parents, and health workers collaborate to restrict students' access to cigarettes, strengthen supervision, promote positive peer environments, and provide continuous education regarding the harmful effects of smoking to reduce smoking behaviour among adolescents.
