Digital transformation has become essential for retail businesses seeking to enhance efficiency and competitiveness. However, many small-scale retailers still manage sales transactions manually, leading to potential issues such as recording errors, limited information, and ineffective decision-making. One viable solution is the implementation of an Electronic Point of Sales (E-POS) system. Yet, the development of E-POS systems for small retailers often proceeds without a robust conceptual design tailored to user needs. This study aims to design a conceptual E-POS system to support the digital transformation of retail businesses. Conducted at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 1, the study employs a qualitative descriptive approach. Methods include literature reviews, observations, and interviews to identify user requirements and map retail business processes. The research yields a conceptual system design comprising business process models, system architecture, and E-POS requirement specifications aligned with the characteristics of retail businesses. These findings are expected to serve as a foundation for future system development and support the sustainable implementation of digital transformation.
