<![CDATA[This research is motivated by the low initial reading ability of lower grade students. This is seem from the difficuly in identifying letters, reading aloud and listening (reading comprehension). This study aims to determine the effect of implementing the Picture and Picture learning model assisted by Flash Card media on students intial reading ability. This study uses a Quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research sample, consisting of 39 students in grade II, namely grade 2A as many as 19 students in the experimental class and 2B as many as 20 students in the control class. The instrument used is the EGRA test. Data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially using the SPSSS program. The result of the N-Gain calculation show that the increase in the experimental class reached 59% (quite Effective category), while the control class only reached 38% (less effective category). Overall, the statistical test show a significant increase <0.05 Picture and Picture model assisted by Flash Card media is proven to provide an increase in intial reading abilty in grade II students.]]>
