The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between psychological toughness, competitive anxiety and attentional focus among elite athletes using a pathway analysis framework of the structural equation modeling. The researcher used descriptive approach based on causal relationships, the sample consisted of hypothetical number of elite athletes in official competition. Psychological toughness, competitive anxiety and attentional focus were assessed using a set of validated psychological scales. Results demonstrated a significant negative correlation between the athlete's psychological resilience and his/her competitive anxiety, suggesting that psychological resilience and competitor anxiety are inversely related. The results also showed a direct positive influence of psychological resilience on attentional focus, and a negative influence of competitive anxiety on concentration levels was shown to have an indirect influence via the mediating role of competitive anxiety between psychological resilience and attentional focus (path analysis). These findings highlight importance of developing psychological resilience as a key factor in improving focus and reducing anxiety among elite athletes. Study recommends integrating psychological training programs into training plans, with a focus on developing emotional control skills and enhancing the ability to cope with competitive pressures.
