This normative legal research examines the application and obstacles of the checks and balances principle a mechanism to prevent the concentration of power within the Indonesian constitutional system following the amendment of the 1945 Constitution. The results indicate that while this principle has been implemented (such as in the relationship between the President and the House of Representatives, as well as the authority of the Constitutional Court), it remains hindered by political interests, differing interpretations of authority, and ineffective oversight. Therefore, all state institutions are urged to be more consistent in exercising their authorities in accordance with the constitution.
