Abstract

As a source of Islamic law, the Qur'an has an important position in the legal istinbath. In addition to the verses of the law, there are verses related to the stories of the prophets, including Ibrahim and Lukman, that contain important principles of ijtihad. This research aims to examine the principles of Islamic law as contained in the stories of the Qur'an, particularly those of the Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.) and Luqman al-Hakim. The Qur'an, as a source of Islamic law, not only contains normative provisions but also ethical and moral values that form the basis for the development of law. Through a normative-textual approach, using the analytical knife of maqāṣid al-sharī'ah, this study traces how the story of the Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.) reflects the principles of justice and freedom of thought, while the story of Luqman al-Hakim presents social responsibility and moral education as the foundation of family law. The results of the study show that the story of the Qur'an is the source of universal legal principles that lead to justice, responsibility, and social welfare. These values align with the purpose of Islamic law: safeguarding religion, soul, intellect, lineage, and property (ḥifẓ al-dīn, al-nafs, al-'aql, al-nasl, wa al-māl). This research emphasizes that the story of the Qur'an can serve as a conceptual model for the formation of Islamic law grounded in values and ethics.
