Abstract: Mathematical conceptual understanding is essential in learning mathematics; however, grade VIII students at SMPN 5 Padang show low understanding, tending to memorize procedures rather than grasp meaning, paying insufficient attention to problem details, and having limited exposure to interactive technology-based media. This study describes the development of students' conceptual understanding during implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Edpuzzle, and examines whether students taught with this model achieve better understanding than those taught conventionally. A quasi-experimental approach with a Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The population comprised all grade VIII students at SMPN 5 Padang; using Simple Random Sampling, class VIII.H was assigned as the experimental group and VIII.D as the control group. Data were collected through quizzes and a conceptual understanding test. Results showed that the experimental class's understanding improved at every meeting, with a final test mean score of 57.3 compared to 31.5 in the control class; hypothesis testing yielded a P-value of (0.000 < α). PBL assisted by Edpuzzle is thus more effective than conventional learning in improving mathematical conceptual understanding. The Edpuzzle-assisted PBL model supports interactive mathematics learning and helps build conceptual understanding through technology-assisted problem-solving. The Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design.
