The continuous growth of Indonesia’s population poses a significant challenge to health development. One effort to control population growth is strengthening the Family Planning (FP) program, particularly through the use of long-acting contraceptive methods such as the Intrauterine Device (IUD). However, IUD utilization remains low, as most Couples of Reproductive Age (CRA) prefer short-term contraceptive methods. This study aimed to determine the effect of video-based counseling on increasing CRA knowledge about IUD contraception. This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach and was conducted in the working area of Sei Kepayang Kiri Health Center. The sample consisted of 35 CRA selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using pretest and posttest questionnaires to measure participants’ knowledge before and after the video-based counseling. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge after the intervention (p = 0.000; p < 0.05). Before counseling, the majority of respondents had poor knowledge (60%), while after counseling, most respondents demonstrated good knowledge (51.4%).In conclusion, video-based counseling is effective in improving CRA knowledge about IUD contraception. Video media can serve as an engaging and effective educational strategy for health workers to enhance community understanding and promote the use of long-acting contraceptive methods.
