Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease caused by insufficient insulin production by the pancreas or the inability of the body to utilize insulin optimally. Insulin plays an important role in regulating blood glucose levels. Research Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of bay leaf (Syzygium polyanthum) decoction on re-ducing blood glucose levels in patients with type II diabetes mellitus at Rawang Health Center. Methods: This research employed a quasi-experimental de-sign with a one-group pretest–posttest approach. The sample consisted of 36 patients with type II diabetes mellitus, selected using purposive sampling. The intervention was administered once daily for seven consecutive days. Results: A decrease in blood glucose levels was observed on the 7th day after the intervention, with a p-value of 0.008 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant reduction of 23.639 mg/dl. Con-clusion: These findings indicate that bay leaf decoction is effective in lowering blood glucose levels among patients with type II diabetes mellitus.
