The bandotan plant (Ageratum conyzoides L.) is a weed in agriculture, its growth difficult to control, and therefore often eradicated. In fact, this plant has many benefits, as it contains various chemical compounds such as alkaloids, steroids, flavonoids, tannins, and saponins. Alkaloids are amines that have pharmacological, physiological, and psychological effects on humans. These compounds can be separated from each other using extraction. Factors affecting the extraction process include temperature, time, stirring, the amount and type of solvent, and particle size. To achieve maximum extraction results in terms of quantity and quality, it is necessary to optimize process conditions, as will be done in this study, which will optimize both temperature and processing time. The study was conducted by extracting bandotan leaves at varying temperatures and processing times. The higher the temperature use, the higher the percentage of alkaloid yield up to 75oC. However, using temperatures above 75oC will decrease the percentage of alkaloid yield. Likewise, with time, the longer the time used, the higher the percentage of alkaloid yield obtained up to 5 hours. However, if the time is above 5 hours, the results will decrease because it turns out that continuous heating for a long time causes decomposition of the material, this is indicated by the blackish brown results. By using the optimal temperature and time, namely 75oC and 5 hours, the percentage of alkaloid yield was 11.34%.
