The freshwater condenser plays a crucial role in maintaining the performance of the auxiliary boiler on ships, particularly on MV. Tanto Sentosa. The condenser function to convert exhaust steam into condensate water, which is then reused as feedwater for the boiler. This process improves the system’s thermal efficiency and reduces freshwater consumption onboard. This study aims to examine the role of the freshwater condenser in supporting auxiliary boiler performance and to identify maintenance steps required for optimal operation. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method through direct observation, interviews with ship engineers, and documentation of maintenance activities. The findings indicate that the condenser’s optimal performance directly affects boiler pressure and temperature stability, preventing overheating and component damage. Effective routine maintenance includes cleaning condenser tubes to remove scale buildup, inspecting for leaks, performing cascade tank blowdown, controlling condensate water quality with chemical additives, and regularly monitoring system pressure and temperature.
