Abstract. Scabies is a contagious skin disease that remains a health problem in developing countries and is often accompanied by secondary bacterial infections that contribute to morbidity and the risk of antimicrobial resistance. This study aims to determine the percentage of scabies and secondary scabies infections and to identify the bacteria causing secondary infections in students at the Nurul Huda Islamic Boarding School, Cidadap District. The study design was descriptive observational with a purely experimental in vitro approach in 38 students with secondary infected scabies who met the inclusion criteria. Pus specimens were collected using sterile cotton swabs, incubated in Triptic Soy Broth (TSB) medium, then cultured on Blood Agar and MacConkey medium for bacterial identification through Gram staining, catalase, and coagulase tests. The result of the study on 83 students at Nurul Huda Islamic Boarding School showed that the highest incidence of scabies was in males (47 cases) and those aged 12-18 (68 cases), with secondary infection reaching 38 cases, predominantly in males (31 cases), at the junior high school level (25 cases). Gram staining identified 38 Gram-positive cocci, 19 Gram-positive bacilli, and 19 Gram-negative bacilli. Meanwhile, positive catalase (30 samples) and coagulase (32 samples) tests indicated the dominance of Staphylococci as the main case. This occurs because scratching the scabies lesions trigger the normal skin flora to cause a secondary infection.
