Technological developments are currently rapidly occurring in the world of education, one of which is artificial intelligence technology, ChatGPT, which is commonly used by students to assist with completing academic assignments. This situation requires awareness in the use of ChatGPT and self-control for students so that ChatGPT use does not lead to academic procrastination, but can foster independence in learning, also known as self-regulated learning. The research method used was a quantitative approach using scales of ChatGPT use, academic procrastination, and independent learning to collect data. The subjects of this study were 118 students in the Islamic Education Guidance and Counseling study program at STAIN Majene. The findings in this study indicate that students have utilized ChatGPT in academic activities, but the intensity and optimization are still at a moderate level. Students still have a tendency to procrastinate on completing academic assignments, although not yet at a high level. Students have developed the ability to plan, monitor, and complete their learning process, but still need to be optimized. And self-regulated learning has been shown to significantly mediate the effect of ChatGPT use on students' academic procrastination.
