This study aims to identify the types of fishing gear used by fishermen in the Inland Public Waters (PUD) of Gampong Alue Naga, Syiah Kuala District, Banda Aceh City. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through field observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation with local fishermen. The results reveal four main types of fishing gear: (1) hand line (pancing), totaling 87 units, which is the dominant gear used to catch yellowstripe scad (Selaroides leptolepis); (2) shellfish collection tools, involving manual oyster harvesting using hands with the aid of machetes and hammers during low tide; (3) a passive trap (bubu) used to catch crabs, operated overnight; and (4) cast net (jala), an active fishing gear requiring specific skills to catch fish in shallow and clear waters. All fishing gear utilized in the area is traditional and environmentally friendly, reflecting local wisdom in managing fishery resources in the region.
