Abstract

Limited English vocabulary remains a persistent barrier for junior high school students because it affects comprehension, sentence construction, and classroom communication. This community service program aimed to improve seventh-grade students’ English vocabulary mastery and learning motivation through Bubbly Pick, a Figma-based interactive learning medium designed with visual prompts, word-selection tasks, and game-like practice. Using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, the program was implemented with 30 seventh-grade students through preparation, two classroom meetings, and evaluation. Data were collected using observation, teacher interviews, vocabulary pre-test and post-test, student response questionnaires, and reflection. The results showed that the average vocabulary score increased from 58 in the pre-test to 82 in the post-test, indicating a 24-point gain. In addition, 22 students (73%) demonstrated significant improvement, 6 students (20%) showed moderate improvement, and only 2 students (7%) required further support. Classroom observations also indicated higher participation, stronger attention to learning tasks, and greater confidence when students interacted with vocabulary through visual and interactive activities. Beyond the immediate learning gains, the program also left the partner school with a reusable, low-cost interactive prototype and strengthened the English teacher’s capacity to continue using digital media for vocabulary instruction. These findings suggest that Bubbly Pick can serve as a practical digital learning medium for supporting vocabulary instruction, especially when teachers require accessible, attractive, and student-centered media for English learning.
