Abstract

The city of Surabaya faces increasing traffic congestion due to the growth of motorized vehicles. To address this issue, the government has planned the Surabaya Regional Railway Line (SRRL) Phase 1A. This study aims to design its operational pattern using a descriptive quantitative case study approach based on secondary data from the 2022 SRRL Feasibility Study, PT INKA, and the GAPEKA 2025. The analysis includes travel demand estimation, travel time calculation, and timetable development using jTrainGraph software. The results show that 12 daily trips using one 4-car KFW EMU trainset are sufficient to serve 11,734 passengers per day. The implementation of the double- track system significantly improves operational efficiency and timetable flexibility. Compared with the previous single-track operation, the line capacity is estimated to increase by approximately 100%, allowing simultaneous bidirectional train operations, reducing train crossing constraints, and improving service reliability.
