Skin diseases are often found amongst people who pay little attention to personal hygiene and environmental sanitation. Some of the most common conditions experienced by the public include psoriasis, leprosy (Hansen’s disease), dermatitis, scabies, tinea versicolor, chickenpox, and others. The cleanliness of the skin, hands, nails and towels is most frequently classified as poor. The cleanliness of the skin, hands, nails, clothing, towels, bedding, bed sheets and environmental sanitation has a significant correlation with reports of skin diseases. Clean and healthy living practices (PHBS) are one strategy for tackling the problem of infectious skin diseases. The promotion of PHBS carried out at the Dermatology and Venereology Outpatient Clinic at Cut Meutia Regional General Hospital, North Aceh, focuses on infectious skin conditions such as dermatitis, tinea corporis, tinea pedis, scabies, pityriasis versicolor, and impetigo. These skin conditions are the most commonly encountered at the Dermatology and Venereology Outpatient Clinic at Cut Meutia Regional General Hospital, North Aceh. The aim of this awareness campaign is to reduce the incidence of these conditions. The prevention of skin diseases is also linked to personal hygiene, clothing, bedding, towels, the home environment, and sanitation facilities. The habit of sharing personal items can increase the risk of transmitting certain disease-causing agents; therefore, education regarding the use of personal items needs to be reinforced.
