ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze Ujang’s personality in Fauzia A.’s short story Badai yang Reda using Carl Gustav Jung’s concept of the shadow. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with a literary psychology approach. The data consist of words, sentences, dialogues, and narratives depicting Ujang’s thoughts, feelings, and behavior. The data were collected through reading and note-taking techniques and then analyzed based on the concept of the shadow. The preliminary analysis indicates that Ujang attempts to accept reality and control his emotions. However, beneath this attitude lie a fear of loss, emotional vulnerability, and a desire to protect someone he loves. The contradiction between his outward behavior and unexpressed feelings reveals Ujang’s psychological dynamics. This study is expected to uncover the hidden aspects of the character’s personality through the perspective of Carl Gustav Jung’s shadow concept. Keywords: Ujang, Badai yang Reda, literary psychology, Carl Gustav Jung, shadow, personality.
